I got to spend another day with Dad today as he had another garage sale, we didn’t sell quite as much as last week but we got rid of a bit. I think most of the good stuff went so all that is left will either go to the Salvos or the dump.
Dad and I have not been particularly close over the years but I would not have missed the last couple of weeks for anything, we have really enjoyed each other’s company. My nephew Darrin also came along to help which was appreciated.
My stepmother Joy is deteriorating more each time I see her, Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease, and to see someone who was once so physically and emotionally strong suffer like this is terrible. The stress of the disease and the care that Joy requires is also taking a toll on Dad, whose own health is not the best.
Tonight I watched Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, one can only imagine the sheer terror of the moment, truly a very good movie. The folly of war and the horrendous loss of life, brought home at the moment by the sad loss of yet another Digger in Afghanistan.
Thank you for reading.
