Thoughts of a middle aged man…..27 July 2012

I felt much better when I got up this morning and had a really good day at work. Tonight we had farewell drinks for Lynton whom I am replacing, although he does not actually leave until next Tuesday. It was good to catch up with a couple of the contractors I worked with previously.

I was looking forward to coming home as my grandson Cody was going to stay overnight, however like most 9 year olds he is a bit fickle and by the time I got home he had decided he wanted to go home again, so straight after dinner that is where I took him. I can’t help feeling a little disappointed as we had not seen him for a few weeks and I was quite looking forward to it.

He did discover the pianola before he went home, not that you can really miss it, so he tinkled the ivories in his own little way before going home. He even found the sheet music and had that propped up as well, so cute.

As part of his occupational therapy he has been given an iPad so I asked him to show me how it works. Games and music was all he could show me, and I though it was meant to be an educational tool, how naive am I?

Brian‘s new role as Village Manager for Masonic Homes at both Ridgehaven and Northgate was officially ratified today, he is very proud, as he should be and as am I.

I’m off to bed now as I will be up at 5.00 am to watch the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, I certainly hope it will be worth the effort. Thank you for reading.
