Thoughts of a middle aged man…..30 August 2012

Another tragic loss of life today in Afghanistan, 5 more young Australians have paid the ultimate price in the fight for peace. My heart goes out to their families.

On a brighter note the Paralympics is now underway in London, it is a shame this event does not get the same coverage as the Olympics. Good luck to all of you who are representing our great country, but most of all just enjoy the experience and know that a medal is not everything as long as you know you have given of your best on the day. Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Today my youngest grandson Zak turns 2, Brian and I have just come home from the family celebration. We got to see all the grandchildren and three of my sons; it is a shame that Blake could not be there but he is doing what he has to in Melbourne. I am very much looking forward to seeing you next weekend Son.

To look at Zak today it is hard to belive he was born at 26 weeks, so tiny and so pathetic, who knew if he would even survive but survive he did and he is thriving, such a beautiful little boy. Terrible twos here we go again.

I think Calais probably had the best time tonight, by the time we left she was covered in food and drink, remember she has just turned 1 herself. She is all class my granddaughter, she knows what she wants and she knows how to get it, a very persistent little girl.

Time for me to hit the sack, I have a very busy few days ahead but more on that tomorrow. Thank you for reading.
