Thoughts of a middle aged man…..16 September 2012

I am sorry, three little words that seem to be the hardest three little words to say, or are they. I believe in saying sorry for recent wrong doings, what I do not believe in is saying sorry for things that happened years ago, things that happened before I was born. If the governments of the day spent more time worrying about what is wrong now rather than apologising for the past, maybe we could get somewhere in this country.

I do not believe that today’s generation should apologise for the wrongdoings, either perceived or actual,  of former generations. I am not going the get into specifics here as it would cause an uproar, but I think we should let bygones be bygones, we cannot change what has happened in the past so leave it there. How can a hollow apology from a government or individual that had nothing to do with the actual events mean anything to anyone, or am I just naive.

Horrible things have happened throughout history, even modern history. There were atrocities committed on all sides in World War II, concentration camps, nuclear bombs, the list goes on. Some of the most terrible atrocities in history have been committed by so-called modern, enlightened countries.

I know this is a bit heavy for a Sunday night but nothing much happened worth writing about today so I thought I would just spew forth about something quite different for a change.

Love me or leave me. Thank you for reading.
