Thoughts of a middle aged man…..3 February 2013

Today has been a really lazy day, we decided to stay home for a change and have done virtually nothing. We have however made some plans for next weekend which will be another busy one, we will be out all day Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon.

I have just spent a pleasant hour reliving my youth, those wonderful years of the 1970s, when life was not as complicated and as young adults we just had innocent fun. I watched a special about ABBA, and the phenomenon that they were at that time, it was the Australian fans that launched their careers.

I remember going to see them in concert in around 1976/1977 at what is now AAMI Stadium. It was a beautiful, mild Autumn night  and I was enthralled. Back then it was Agnetha I was madly in love with, I had posters all over my wall and all their records, that’s right kids, records.

I still have all those records, and I still know all the words to those wonderfully corny but catchy songs. Naturally I loved the movie Mamma Mia with Meryl Streep, although I did not get to see the stage musical. I don’t care how old they are, if they ever perform in Adelaide again I will be there, banging my boomerang, and saying thank you for the music. Oh, and I just found an ABBA page on Facebook! Like it!

Thank you for reading.
