This morning my six-year-old grandson Jayden played his first soccer game, and as they were short of players my 7-year-old granddaughter Alyssa played as well. They were soundly beaten, 10 nil, but they had a great time which is the main thing, and the other team were all bigger, and about 12 months older by the look of them, under 7s. Jayden certainly is not afraid to get in and have a go, he got a few kicks and was in it all the way. My son Kane was quite proud as was I.
This afternoon, after the joy of seeing Port Power beaten by North Melbourne, came the disappointment at seeing the Adelaide Crows go down to Hawthorn. The Crows were not thrashed but the year is not starting well, only two wins from six games. I don’t want to sound like a whiner but the umpiring was atrocious, I hope the AFL has a good look at some of these umpires and takes them to task as the clubs do their players.
Brian is finally starting to improve, he is still not 100% but he is definitely getting better. Maybe tomorrow we can go out for a while, there is an open inspection we are both wanting to see in Angle Vale. I have also decided to go to the afternoon tea at the nursing home for Mum’s birthday, I have let my horrible siblings have their way for too long, it is time for a comeback.
Brian also got a surprise today, he was contacted by a distant cousin from his paternal grandmother’s family, a side of the family he has not really spoken of. They had an interesting chat so we will just wait and see where it leads.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thank you for reading.
