Today has been a very long day, I am exhausted, my feet ache, my knees ache and I just want to go to bed. I had to do a meeting in Blackwood at 6.00pm tonight after a busy day at the office, and did not get home until around 8.15pm.
The other day Brian and I received an invitation to my god-daughter’s wedding in August, just by chance it is only about a kilometre up the road. I am one lousy godfather, I have not seen Summer since the day she was christened and yet she still wants me to share her special day, I am touched. I have to admit to feeling slightly nervous as well, as I will see a number of people I have not seen in a very long time, in a former life. I am sure that as the big draws closer I will be even more anxious, maybe a bit of dutch courage before we leave home.
It is funny where life takes you, I remember the day of the christening as though it was yesterday, yet it is over 30 years ago. I accepted the role of godfather with the most noble of intentions but sometimes life just takes people who were very close in different directions.
Time for me to hit the sack. Goodnight and thank you for reading.
