Thoughts of a middle aged man…..20 May 2013

It seems that the GST debate is set to hit again, should the GST be expanded to include items not currently attracting the GST. In my opinion all goods and services other than treatment by a registered doctor and prescription pharmaceuticals should attract the GST, other than that there should be no increase in the actual rate of charge, currently 10%. By doctors I do not mean just your local GP, I would include dentists, psychiatrists, any service related to medical practice performed by a duly recognised practitioner.

On another subject that attracts very emotional responses, breast-feeding in public, I am all for this provided it is done with discretion. I do not want to walk around a shopping centre and see babies feeding from exposed breasts, however if there is a strategically placed cloth nappy for instance, see they do still have a place in the world, I would have no problem whatsoever. Call me old-fashioned if you like, but I think it is just common sense.

I had one heck of a day at work today, a marathon meeting with a new corporation, one that has come to us from another management company, and one with its fair share of issues. Hopefully I went some way towards resolving some very emotive issues today.

The rest of my week will be quite busy as well, I have an EGM to arrange and an IGM for another new corporation. Still I would much rather be busy than the other way around, I may even have to work on Wednesday.

That’s me for another day. Goodnight and thank you for reading.
