I might love the night life, and I might like to boogie, but oh those summer nights, I do not like those summer nights. Come to think of it I don’t like the summer days either. The fact of the matter is I just don’t like summer, rock on winter, or autumn, or spring, anything but summer.

One of the things I dislike most about summer is air conditioning. Don’t get me wrong, I could not last the summer without air conditioning, but I just don’t like it. It irritates my eyes, I don’t like the chill in the air, I don’t like it blowing in my face, but it is infinitely better than the alternative, which is to sweat profusely.

I miss not being able to open up the house, I miss the fresh air and a cool breeze blowing through the house, I miss not being able to go outside without melting. I am so over perspiration and body odour, not my body odour, my sh*t doesn’t stink, but the same cannot be said for some of those other unfortunate smelly souls that think they can inflict their own brand on everyone else, whether it be at the shops or anywhere else for that matter. That waft of BO as you walk past someone, truly gross.

I miss the cooler weather, but not too cold, I don’t like heaters either.

Thoughts of a middle aged man…..14 January 2014

It was my first day back at work yesterday and a few things had changed, we have new carpet, a new paint job, and I have a new chair. Just one more thing, tomorrow I get a new computer, feeling very special. 🙂

Two days of 40 degrees plus and I am over it, bring on winter. I have to admit the house is quite cool and so is the office, but the air conditioning in my car must need a re-gas. I am so soft it is pathetic.

Today is the 8th wedding anniversary of my eldest son Kane and his wife Kristin, they have spent the day on their first overseas flight, Phuket via Kuala Lumpur. This is their first holiday anywhere and they have worked very hard for it, I really hope they have a wonderful time.

Brian and I finally have the news we have been waiting for, our home loan has been approved and settlement is 24th January, we are over the moon. We have been very fortunate to have a good landlord but we are over lining someone elses pocket, it is a great feeling to be able to purchase our own home again after all we have been through.

I am really looking forward to redecorating this house, putting our touch on it, buying what we want, putting pictures up wherever we like. Brian will be able to have his dog or cat, or both, whatever he likes, and I can have my racing pigeons. We are much closer to my sons and their families, and it is only a quick drive to most of our closest friends. Win, win! We are both very happy, 2014 will be a very good year.

Thoughts of a middle aged man…..11 January 2014

Quite a warm day today, nothing like the stinkers we will have later in the week though. At the moment I am quite cool sitting here however after a few days of 40 plus the evaporative air conditioning doesn’t do so well, although granted any air conditioning is better than no air conditioning. It will be lovely to get back to a nice refrigerated air conditioning system, like we have in the new house. Just two weeks to go.

This afternoon there was an open inspection in our current house, eight groups through in 30 minutes, not too bad really. Unfortunately we have a another next Saturday but after that it will not be our problem.

I am struggling to get into my latest Dan Brown book, Angels and Demons, perhaps because I saw the movie first. I think I will be ok once the action starts, but it seems to be taking a long time to get going.

Brian has just come upstairs for his afternoon nap, poor thing, his back is sore and he is tired. I sometimes wonder who is the oldest in this family, I have him by a few years but unfortunately with a debilitating back problem he is slower than I am, physically anyway. 🙂
